Look up a company by legal name or registration number, and check an EU VAT id when tax_id is set. Returns credits_remaining plus companies with name, country, company_number, lei, tax_id, status, address, source, and confidence. Costs 0.05 credit on success. A missing API key is not charged. An empty companies list means no live match. source demo is a fixture, not a registry record. Use tax_id for a VAT check and country to narrow the name search. Do not treat a demo row as official.
